A printed QR by the register is décor. A card machine with a scan overlay is still a card machine. Tokyo Kessai issues the code for this purchase, at this moment, for this guest. That is why it can replace the card-present transaction rather than decorate it.

If the guest later funds the scan from Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, a card on their phone, ACH, or crypto, that choice happens on their device — never as a card handed across your counter.
